Do anyone know whether a correspondence address can be used for business registration instead of a permanent address?

I am trying to register my company but I don’t want my real address to link for all the bills, legal notice, parcels, or mail. So, can I use a correspondence address or do authorities demand a permanent address.

Yes, you can use a correspondence address in most places, but it depends on your country’s laws. Many jurisdictions allow a registered agent or virtual office as your business address. However, some authorities (like tax offices or banks) may require a real physical address. Check your local regulations before deciding.

+1 to this. I used a virtual office for my LLC in the US, but my bank needed a real address for KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. Ended up using my accountant’s office address instead.

Some banks are chill with virtual addresses, but some flag them for fraud prevention. If you’re setting up an online business, make sure you don’t run into account freezes because of a sketchy address.

I tried using a correspondence address in Canada, and CRA (tax agency) rejected it because it wasn’t a “fixed place of business.” Had to list my home address. Now I get government letters at home, which sucks.

Same here! Canada is super strict about this. Even PO boxes aren’t accepted for tax registration. Had to register under my home address and later change my mailing address to a virtual office.

Exactly why I got a separate PO box for business. They won’t accept it for registration, but at least I don’t have invoices and debt collectors showing up at my door.

If you’re running an online business, just use a virtual office service. I’ve been running a business remotely for years with a virtual office in Delaware, and I never had any issues.

Delaware is great for business registrations, but their privacy laws are changing. I’d be careful relying on that too much. Wyoming and New Mexico still offer better anonymity.

If anonymity is your concern, go offshore. Set up in the British Virgin Islands or Estonia’s e-Residency program. No one’s linking anything to your home address.

A lot of people forget thatofficial notices need to be served somewhere. If you use a virtual address, make sure someone actually checks it. Otherwise, you might miss legal documents and get screwed.

Learned this the hard way. My “business address” was a PO box, and I didn’t check it often. Got a lawsuit I didn’t respond to and lost by default. 😭

Oh man, that’s a nightmare. This is why I pay a registered agent service to scan my mail. Costs me $150 a year, but I never miss important documents.

If you’re running a small business from home, you can use your home address, but be prepared for junk mail, random visits, and privacy risks. I had a crazy client show up at my house once. Never again.

This is exactly why you need a separate business address. Privacy is underrated. People don’t think about it until it’s too late.

Yup. Ever had an angry customer or competitor send you threats? I have. Never using my home address again.
